Miles Prower (マイルス・パウアー, Mairusu Pauā?), better known by his nickname Tails (テイルス, Teirusu?), is one of the main characters in the Sonic the Hedgehog series of video games, comics, and animated series released by Sega.

The name "Miles Prower" is a pun on "miles per hour", a reference to the famed speed of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is an 8-year-old orange-yellow (Now 10 in the Sonic Boom games), anthropomorphic fox with two tails (similar to the mythological kitsune), hence his nickname. He is known to be Sonic's best friend, sidekick, and an expert mechanic. He is able to use his two tails to propel himself into the air like a helicopter for a limited time. His debut was on October 16, 1992, introduced in the 8-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2; the 16-bit version was released that November.

During his first appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, his skin and fur was an orange color, but the color was changed to yellow-orange for Sonic Adventure, and golden-yellow for Sonic Heroes.

In Project X

Tails was the first male playable character added to Project X. His animations are the basis for all the other male capture sequences and animations.

In Project X, Tails is a light orange fox with two tails and wears red sneakers similar to those worn by Sonic, as well as white gloves.

Tails, along with Rouge, has maximum jump power since he can use his tails for increased lift. His health and physical attack are all around the middle of the field, though he does have decent special attack power and special attack energy. He has somewhat low speed, however, compared to other characters.

Tails' physical combo is a jab, a kick, a shot from an electro-gun, and then a swipe from his tails. His dash attack is a simple shoulder charge, his special attack uses a spring-loaded boxing glove in a box, and his desperation attack has him jump into the air and throw a hand grenade downwards to blast nearby enemies.

Tails seems more embarrassed than angry about the pink cloud. He even states that seeing the rest of the team in the opening scene embarrasses him. When grappled, he appears more shocked and overwhelmed than angry, suggesting that he's not entirely sure how to react.
