Blaze the Cat (ブレイズ・ザ・キャット, Bureizu za Kyatto?) is a character in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, created by Sonic Team and owned by Sega. She made her first appearance in the Nintendo DS video game, Sonic Rush.

Blaze is a princess and the guardian of the Sol Emeralds, a role similar to that held by Knuckles. She is sometimes referred to as a queen; She is called "Queen Blaze the Cat" on the official Sega of America Sonic mini site, Sonic Central, as well as the former Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) game website. However, in Japanese, her title is 皇女 kōjo, which translates as "imperial princess," (she is also called princess in Sonic Rush Adventure).

In the English version of the games, Blaze was voiced by Bella Hudson and as of 2010, she is voiced by Laura Bailey. In the Japanese version, she is voiced by Nao Takamori.

In Project X

Blaze was the fifth character added to Project X. Her debut came alongside the release of Gallery Mode.

She wears gloves similar to those worn by Sonic, only there's fuzzy lining on the cuffs. Her shoes have the same motif as Sonic's, but they have fuzzy lining and are high-heeled. She also wears a purple robe, lined at the neck with gold (possibly a necklace) and at the bottom with magenta, and a pair of white tights. She has a ponytail, and a jewel-like red orb is present on her forehead.

Blaze is a very balanced character, with an average amount of health and slightly above average special energy and physical attack power. She has very good movement speed, but low jump height. Her best stat is her special attack power, which is tied with Amy as the highest available.

Blaze's physical attack combo is a jab, a side kick, a high kick, and then a small explosion of fire magic. In keeping with Blaze's fire theme, all of her special attacks use fire magic. Her dash attack is a quick forward step followed by a blast of fire, her special attack is a flaming kick followed by a spinning fire cyclone kick, and her desperation attack is a flaming tornado spin ending in a dance pose.

Blaze seems to be able to keep her head when selected as a playable character, appearing at ease and having dialog that suggests she's genuinely perturbed by the pink cloud's effects. However, most of her animations show her to be almost as eager as Rouge, suggesting that her stiff demeanor can crack easily if faced with temptation.
